Novotel Wollongong Northbeach Review: A Luxury Seaside Stay in NSW

This month I was blessed to be able to take off two weeks from my job in London, pack a suitcase or two, and fly home to Sydney to spend some much needed time with my family. It was also my boyfriend’s first time to Australia and I was excited to show off my beautiful country.

When the opportunity arose to have a spontaneous night away we jumped at it. We were very spoilt by the Novotel Wollongong Northbeach, a beautiful hotel overlooking the Tasman Sea in Wollongong New South Wales, Australia.

I have stayed at the Novotel Wollongong Northbeach before and enjoyed the style and modern feel of the rooms and the way they feature the amazing scenery. We were fortunate to stay in one of the Panorama Suites, featuring a sweeping balcony with sea views. We were greeted with a bottle of wine and fruit platter and lovely greeting cards.

The suite was made up of a open plan lounge and dining area, (where we shared a glass of wine before dinner), bathroom with an impressive bathtub and a generous sized bedroom with access to the balcony. The style was modern with a hint of a beach feel to remind us we were by the sea. I loved falling asleep to the roar of the waves down below.

The hotel is a popular venue for weddings and accommodation for wedding guests. We stayed on a Friday night and could hear the distant sounds of celebrations from the balcony. There was a buzz in the air and salt spray within reach. The hotel has its own restaurant and large lobby area but was easily connected to surrounding pubs and cafes. We went out to dinner to a pub next door for a relaxed meal and some cocktails.

The next morning I woke up early to appreciate the sunrise over the ocean from our balcony. The pinks and pale blues contrasted beautifully with the surrounding lush Australian bushland.

We had a lovely night away at the Novotel Wollongong Northbeach and felt very looked after. Only 90 minutes out of Sydney and a beautiful escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. A seaside getaway of comfort and class.
